Former WBC & IBO Heavyweight World Champion Pinklon Thomas, gives Support To Gospel Goes Classical Gala Concert and Central Florida Urban League Operation Cease Fire

Orlando/Winter Park, FL – Former WBC & IBO Heavyweight World Champion, boxer and now motivational speaker Pinklon Thomas, will not only walk the red carpet at Gospel Goes Classical Gala Concert on June 9, 2018 at Calvary Assembly Orlando located at 1199 Clay Street in suburban Winter Park, but will attend as a support sponsor to present a check to the Central Florida Urban League (CFUL) for its Operation Cease Fire Initiative.  Thomas’ foundation, Project P.I.N.K. (Pride in Neighborhood Kids) is where he currently devotes most of his time motivating teens and at-risk youth.  P.I.N.K provides him opportunity to foster youth mentorship by influencing young people to shun drugs and peer pressure, as well as emphasizes the importance of setting goals and responding to mistakes and difficulties in life with aplomb and faith. It is truly inspiring but not surprising, that 15-year professional boxer Thomas managed to overcome from being a heroine addict at age 12, to earning the WBC heavyweight boxing title from 1984 to 1986.  Thomas has also penned his incredible true story in his new book, “Back from the Edge of Hell” .  Throughout his boxing career, Thomas was known for wearing pink trunks and hurling his powerful knockout left jab when he encountered many contenders including Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe, and Tommy Morrison.  Passionate about efforts toward relieving the plight of their communities, Thomas along with event producer Steve Lane of Digital 1 Media Services, decided a partnership to help make an effective difference by assisting CFUL Operation Cease Fire whose program goal is to reduce the prevalence of gun violence and change behavior among the most at-risk population. This premier concert has music for everyone and is not to be missed.  Gospel Goes Classical in Orlando, by way of the silky smooth legendary voice of multi-Grammy Award winner BeBe Winans and the amazing two-octave internationally acclaimed mezzo soprano Denyce Graves, accompanied by the 50-piece Bella Musica Orchestra of Florida, is just the tip of the iceberg.  The orchestra, conducted by Dr. Glenn Caldwell, will perform some of Gospel music’s greatest songs with symphonic and classical interpretations that will surely tug away at your heart strings.  And guest performers, breakout artist Monique Steele and the forever melodic Antioch Baptist Church of Oviedo 50-member choir, will give an admix compliment to the evening. The stunning red carpet walk begins at 5:30pm; and the benefit concert starts at 7:30pm, hosted by the exceptional woman of God, Pastor Riva Tims of Majestic Life Church and Radio Host of Glory of Gospel on Star 94.5fm. We encourage you to come, enjoy a classy production, and help stop the violence.
